Once we created our Baby Vida Smart Monitors, we have been dedicating ourselves to educate as many parents as possible about the importance of safe sleep for their babies and toddlers. We want to provide informative resources regarding safe sleeping techniques because we truly care about you and your family.
The following are essential tips to ensure that your child is getting a safe night’s sleep:
- Follow the ABCs of safe sleep. Always ensure that your baby is Alone, on their Back, and in their Crib. It’s imperative for all members in your home who puts the baby to bed is aware of the ABCs of safe sleep.
- Ensure your baby sleeps on a firm surface. Whether it’s a crib or a portable play area, a firm sleep surface is the ideal place for your baby to get a safe night’s sleep. Do not let your baby sleep on soft surfaces, such as soft mattresses, pillows, or couches. Soft surfaces allow a baby’s head to sink into the surface, which can cause accidental suffocation.
- Keep soft objects away and out of a baby’s crib. In most cases of sleep-related infant deaths, accidental suffocation is associated with soft objects, including blankets, quilts, pillows, and stuffed animals.
- Don’t bed share, room share if necessary. It’s imperative to understand that your baby should never share a crib. However, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), sharing a room is an effective way to reduce the risk of accidental suffocation in infants.
